About Career Guidance Hub
Career Guidance Hub is a free resource that helps South African learners, students and adults choose a career with confidence — with clear guides, practical tools and evidence-based advice.
What we do
Career Guidance Hub helps South African learners, students and adults make career decisions with confidence. We publish free, practical guides on choosing a career, subject choices, study pathways, funding and applications, plus a free career assessment that maps your interests, personality, strengths and values. Our goal is simple: to make good career guidance available to everyone, not just those who can pay for it.
How we work
Free and independent
Everything on the site is free to use. We're not a university, college or recruiter, so our guidance isn't steering you towards any one institution.
Plain language, answer-first
We lead with the answer, then explain it. No jargon for its own sake — just clear, practical guidance you can act on.
Researched and referenced
Our guides draw on official South African sources — NSFAS, the DHET, SAQA, professional councils and universities — and we point you to them to confirm the details that change each year.
Kept up to date
Application dates, funding rules and requirements change. We review and refresh our guides, and show when each was last updated.
An important note
Our guides and assessment are educational tools to help you think clearly and explore your options — they are not a substitute for a formal, professionally interpreted assessment. For in-depth career counselling, or a psychometric assessment with individual feedback, we recommend consulting a registered career practitioner or an educational psychologist registered with the HPCSA.
